At the age of 15, Jean-Francois Albert began a jewelry apprenticeship in his home town of Lausanne, Switzerland. After four years of learning the trade, he won his first job working in Geneva for Piaget where he perfected his designing and bench skills. His desire for adventure prompted a move to Canada, where his first stop was Montreal. There, he quickly built a thriving business as a freelance model maker, and later moved to Vancouver. His stay in Vancouver gave him access to the entire West Coast market, and to Babs Jolitz (now Albert). They met in 1978 at the Newport Beach, California jewelry store that Babs managed, and the rest, as they say, is history. The Albert's have been working together in their business since 1979.
Jean-Francois' talent in jewelry design is recognized throughout the industry. He has been awarded the prestigious DeBeers Diamonds Today Award four times, and is a three-time winner of the American Gem Trade Association's Spectrum Design Competition, which focuses on colored gemstones. The American Jewelry Design Council has also recognized his prolific design skills. He has earned membership in this respected organization, accompanied by America's most influential and innovative jewelry designers. As a group, they blend their strengths into a common voice that speaks for advancement, promotion and power of contemporary jewelry design.
His designs are produced in an airy 5000 sq. ft. studio in Irvine, California where he employs an international staff of talented professionals. Albert has a well deserved reputation as a master craftsman and classic designer. His clean and simple lines can be diamond rings and masterful colored stone jewelry pieces.
