Posy Rings are rings with brief poems that express love sentiments decoratively inscribed either around the outside or on the inside of the band. These inscribed rings were found as early as classical times but reached their greatest popularity historically in the 16th and 17th centuries. The posies or brief poems are primarily in English or French, although the collection includes rings inscribed in German, Greek, Latin and Hebrew. Posy Rings connect people, and especially people in love, with all those who have ever loved because the sentiments expressed in the posy are universal feelings.
