Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of owning Trew Tungsten rings?
Hardness, assuring long lasting beauty. Permanently polished Trew Tungsten rings
take a brilliant high polish and resist scratching longer than any metal ever
offered to the public. Roughly ten times harder than 18k gold and four times
harder than Titanium, Trew Tungsten rings will never bend out of shape.
What is Tungsten and Tungsten Carbide?
Tungsten, previously referred to as Heavy Stone, is a very hard and dense
metal symbolized by a W on the periodic elements table that is extracted from
Wolframite ore. Tungsten is used as the filament wire in most light bulbs
because it melts at an extraordinary 6,200 degrees F. When Tungsten is processed
with carbon and other elements it is transformed into Tungsten Carbide (WC)
between 8 and 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. This super hard composite metal has
been widely used for over 50 years as a cutting tool for industrial
applications. A special formulation of Tungsten Carbide has been used as well
for the production of scratch proof wrist watches for nearly forty years.
What benefits in design does Trew Tungsten offer?
Highly polished facets that will remain permanently polished. The light
reflected by Trew Tungsten's unique patented faceted exterior is uncomparable
with any other band today. Conventional bands look beautiful when they are new
because the design details and edges are sharp and polished. Give these same
rings 12 months of everyday wear and tear and the entire look and most of the
design details will be worn down and dull, even with platinum.
Will these rings ever scratch, and if so can the scratches be removed?
Solid Trew Tungsten rings possess the hardest surface of any ring on history,
but in time will develop small micro-scratches on the surface (similar to how a
cut and polished Sapphire gemstone would wear in time), but they will not be
obvious or diminish the rings luster. Of course the softer gold and platinum
inlaid sections in some rings will in time develop a texture and offer wearers
the look of an attractive contrast between a high brilliant polish and a soft
natural colored texture. The service of polishing out small scratches is
possible when submitted to the factory
What if a Trew Tungsten ring gets stuck on your finger, can it be safely
removed if necessary?
Yes, first try removing by soaking your hand in a bowl of ice water for a
minute or two, then apply a heavy lubricant like petroleum jelly on the finger
between the ring and the knuckle, hold the ring with a cloth and gently pull
with a rocking motion.
If pulling doesn't work, TrewTungsten rings are engineered to be safely and
easily removed in case of emergency. Click
here to view the recommended removal procedure as written by Dr. Stanley
Hajduk and published by the Annals of Emergency Medicine in June of 2001.
Note: You may be eligible for a full replacement if you submit the ring parts
(including the serial number) and proof of removal by an emergency professional
along with your warranty.
