David P. Virtue grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut and
received a degree in Industrial Design from the University of Bridgeport in 1967. He then
worked for two years as a designer for consulting firms in New York city and for two years
as a freelance designer in Annapolis, Maryland for the Smithsonian Institution. David
started his jewelry business in 1971, originally working in silver and now exclusively in
gold. His designs have evolved from his personal tastes and have been influenced by living
in rural New Hampshire for fourteen years. David is also influenced by the sea and
sailing. He completed a nine month sailing trip from Maine to the Bahamas in 1992/1993 and
has a USCG Captain's license. David recently moved to the southern seacoast of Maine.
Much of David's work is hand fabricated with a number of styles reproduced by lost-was casting. His jewelry is sold in many galleries throughout the country, and his wedding bands and engagement sets have been exhibited in numerous wedding band shows. David is a member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and the Maine Crafts Association. He has shown his work at the Boston and Philadelphia Buyers' Market and the Columbus ACC show.
